These garments that were once restricted to skydivers, engineers and sportsmen have served as a utility one piece garment, and have taken its place in mainstream fashion. From prim and proper play suits of the 50s to the elegant disco inspired 70s styles and even to the boiler suits of the 90s which have returned to the fashion scene presently, the jump suit has continued to played an integral role in women's fashion.

This gorgeous piece usually comprises of a blouse and trouser joined at the waist line and can take several variations in design, a jumpsuit is a cross between the sporty, the casual and the dressy. A boiler suit which is also trending now is simply a jump suit that is loose or less fitted at the waist area. A play suit on the other hand is a short length jumpsuit (usually above the knee) depending on the fabric used and the styling; it can be worn to several informal and social events.

In making or choosing a jumpsuit you need to put the following into consideration;
(1) styling is key: The jumpsuit can be accessorized in several creative ways; shoes, bags jewellery and other accessories can instantly change its appearance. Gladiator sandals give the play suits a resort casual look; you can pair it with wedges to give a casual approach or open toe stiletto straps for an elegant edge. Other pieces such as turbans, scarves, belts, sunglasses, hats can be used to give the uber – glam look. From the classy to the cosmopolitan, accessories play an integral role in the appeal of a jumpsuit.

(2) Focus on fabric: There are so many fabulous fabrics that jumpsuits come out nicely in, and in turn making the wearer look fabulous. As mentioned earlier; jersey, denim, linen, chiffon are great fabrics that jump suits come in. Our more indigenous fabrics such as Ankara and Adire are also creative and have an ethnic appeal. Satin give a luxurious look while floral prints have a playful feel to it. The important thing to remember while considering fabrics is to look absolutely gorgeous for the occasion it’s worn to.
Fabrics mostly used include the jersey which exude a sensual appeal, to the denim and georgette which give a casual and yet elegant look. Chiffon can be used also to give a billowy and bohemian effect surprisingly cord lace and velvet although unusual,
from the basic to the most elegant jumpsuits.

(3) Print it!: With so many fabric choices and prints being in vogue now, fabric prints of different designs and forms add an extra design quality to the whole look. While plain coloured fabrics are good, prints are even better! From polka dots to stripes, scarf motifs and floral prints, fabrics of different prints, textures and colours are trending now and are in very high demand.

Whichever way you wear it, the jumpsuits are for you this season. When next you thinking of what to wear be sure to Jump around!
