As
the race of who occupies Alausa Government House hots up, the candidates of the
two leading parties in Lagos state, APC and PDP are leaving no stone unturned
in their bid to secure the governor’s seat come March 28 when the governorship
elections will hold.
Thus, pointing to the fact that the race for who becomes the next governor of Lagos would be a tight one between Akinwunmi Ambode of the All Peoples Congress and Jimi Agbaje of the People’s Democratic Party.
A
study conducted by NOIPolls revealed it will be a close race between Jimi
Agbaje and Akinwunmi Ambode as a minimal five percent gap was recorded between
this two. Ambode led the list of candidates vying to emerge as the next governor
of Lagos State in the coming March 2015 elections when respondents were asked
who they will be voting for. While 26 percent of the respondents pitched their
tent with Akinwunmi Ambode of the APC, 21 percent said they will vote for PDP’s
Jimi Agbaje. However, 50 percent of the respondent who participated in the poll
is still undecided on which candidate among these two will be their choice;
which signifies that this proportion of voters would be key in deciding who
ultimately becomes the number one citizen of the state.
The
results of the survey demonstrated that both candidates have robust support
which cut across all age groups among eligible voters. Although a substantial
amount of voters between 18 – 21 years who are first time voters are unsure as
to whom their vote will go to.
The
opinion poll also indicated that about 9 in 10 qualified voters are registered
and with almost 9 in 10 certain that they will vote in the March elections.
According to the survey first time voters between 18 – 21 years age group leads
the majority of those who are absolutely certain that they will vote, despite
being mostly undecided on their choice of candidate in the upcoming Lagos
gubernatorial elections.
